We are excited to announce that a registered dietitian has joined Kindful Body! Alisha Dudish is here to help guide you in your eating disorder recovery. Alisha comes to us with eight years of experience in the eating disorder field. She studied at the University of North Florida before moving across the country to work at the San Francisco VA Hospital and later joining an eating disorder treatment center. She is prepared to collaborate with our team of online eating disorder therapists to provide you with the best possible eating disorder treatment.
Alisha will work with you using a Health at Every Size, anti-diet approach that draws on intuitive and mindful eating. “I seek to make changes to help you along the recovery process without putting you on a diet. An eating disorder throws off your intuition around your hunger or fullness levels. I look to bring your body’s intuition back during recovery to make you comfortable eating anything and knowing how moderation feels.”
She understands that sharing your disordered eating behaviors with a dietitian is a very vulnerable experience, and hopes that her clients can develop a sense of trust with her. She will be working with you to challenge your eating disorder, but will always have your best interests in mind.
Alisha believes building a healthy relationship with food begins at home. “Family sessions can be helpful along with learning to create your own values around food and not taking on your family’s food issues,” she says.
She is passionate about expanding access to mental health care, reducing the stigma around eating disorders, promoting body positivity, and advocating for eating disorder education and awareness for all healthcare professionals. In her own dietetic internship, she was never exposed to eating disorders. It was not until she sought out work at a treatment center that she was able to learn about how to treat those who were suffering.
Alisha is also a firm believer in the power of therapy. “Everyone should have therapy at some point.”
In her free time, she loves cooking, going to farmers market, walking around San Francisco and travelling with her husband and toddler. She’s a big fan of Trader Joe’s because bargain shopping at the grocery store gives her joy.
